Hey friends, This past year has been quite a bum

Hey friends,

This past year has been quite a bummer for my musician friends and me. All the venues closed down! So, I decided to make a quarantine EP.

Some notes on the process:
Patrick Tully, the arranger for The Chainsmokers, produced and mixed and Nolan Shaheed, the former music director for Marvin Gaye and trumpet player for Stevie Wonder, engineered the EP at his home studio. For players, I had Luca Pino on guitar, Jonathan Frias on bass, Gareth Price on drums and percussion, Carey Frank on piano and organ and Sean O'Kelley helped me with the arrangements as well as played tenor sax on "Moonlight Serenade."

I wrote the titular song, "My Love," last year in the first week of shut down. My grandmother had just passed and I went up to Montana to see her before she went. My uncle Rus is big into music and being around him and the family inspired me to write out a melody that had been jumbling around in my mind for a few weeks. Along with the song, you'll hear some recognizable jazz standards that are some of my favorites.

Just thinking today 🤔. Last year I had the privilege to visit The Capitol and volunteer for a cause deeply important to me: putting a price on carbon emissions, so we can finally bring down greenhouse gases and solve the climate crisis. It amazes me how easy it was walk in, similar to how you might walk into a local courthouse and amusement park and remove your belongings from your pockets. It would be a shame if the actions of last week's terrorist attacks took away our ability to visit our most precious monuments.

I was on my way to Dick's Sporting Goods in Glenda

I was on my way to Dick's Sporting Goods in Glendale over the weekend when I met a homeless woman named Jinn. She asked me for a favor and offered me some money to go to the restaurant nearby and order a Perrier. It was the first time anyone homeless had offered to pay me for anything and I was blown away. She had pretty swollen feet and I could tell it would hurt to walk, so I happily obliged. Unfortunately, (after waiting forever to get the host's attention) I learned the restaurant didn't have one. Neither did Dick's. Luckily, there was a coffee shop nearby, so I was able to walk around the corner and finally order the darn drink for her. She insisted on paying me when I returned, but I told her it was no big deal and I could not accept any money. I wished her a Merry Christmas.

If you are ever in Glendale near the downtown area and meet an older woman with glasses who has a bit of trouble walking, buy her a Perrier.
